Trump pick for FAA chief gets nod from Senate committee
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved President Trump’s pick for new Federal Aviation Administration chief – but only just.
The vote followed party lines at 14-12 with Democrats opposing the nomination of Stephen Dickson.
Former Delta executive allegedly retaliated against a Delta pilot who reported safety concerns.
This led to a lawsuit which Dickson failed to disclose to the committee.
An investigation found he ‘did know, was involved with this pilot, did know what was happening, and failed to disclose it to this committee,’ said the committee’s top ranking Democrat, Sen. Maria Cantwell.
Dickson’s appointment as FAA administrator moves forward and still needs confirmation from a full Senate.
"He will bring commitment, experience and expertise necessary to lead the FAA," said committee chairman Sen. Roger Wicker.
