Mexico: Overweight holidaymakers get their own place to relax
Travellers who are concerned that they are overweight can now book up at a resort that will open under the slogan “Live large – live free”.
The Freedom Paradise hotel, on the Mexican Riviera Maya south of the resort of Cancun, will offer extra large sunbeds, king-size beds, larger doorways and bigger baths.
The Daily Telegraph also reports that the resort’s four swimming pools have been adapted to suit the bigger bather, with gently sloping sides and special hand-rails. What is more, there are five restaurants catering for those with bigger appetites on site.
Jurrian Klink, a director of Freedom Paradise, told the newspaper: “Large people have problems on holiday. They face discrimination or they are not fully comfortable, especially in bathing suits, and there is a lack of facilities for them. We decided to offer a solution with somewhere they would feel comfortable.”
