TSA hiking fines for seized guns at airports
To combat record numbers of guns at airports, the Transportation Security Administration is increasing fines.
The TSA is raising the maximum fine by an extra $1,000 to $14,950.
TSA screeners have found 6,301 guns at airports so far this year.
The number has increased four-fold in the past decade.
The TSA says 88% of guns found in carry-on bags were loaded.
At a congressional hearing ,lawmakers called for higher fines, said maximum fines were rarely imposed.
