TSA investigating security checkpoint breach at Salt Lake City Airport
TSA officials at Salt Lake City International Airport are investigating how a man without a ticket managed to bypass security screening.
After getting through undetected, he then allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on a passenger inside the terminal.
Victor Cossio, 42, was booked on suspicion of robbery and assault, after taking the victim’s cellphone and walking off.
The victim told police Cossio ‘began punching him for no reason.’
Salt Lake City Airport TSA confirmed the man did not have a flight ticket and acknowledged ‘document verification procedures were not properly followed.’
"An individual who was not ticketed for travel gained access to the sterile area of the airport. The individual and his belongings were screened through the security checkpoint with no alarms. TSA will cooperate with law enforcement in its ongoing investigation."
