TSA restarts cabin crew self defense training amid surging unruly passenger incidents
The Transportation Security Administration will resume self-defense training for flight attendants in early July. It was halted due to the pandemic but with a travel recovery in full swing and high vaccination rates, now is the time to resume it, as more furloughed workers return.
It is especially important given the huge increase in unruly passenger incidents this year, with several turning violent. The training program gives flight crew members not only effective defensive measure to respond against an attack but also how to de-escalate incidents.
