TSA worker held at Denver Airport for bringing loaded gun

Tuesday, 25 Feb, 2016 0
A TSA employee has been detained at Denver Airport after bringing a loaded handgun to work.

Police spokesman Doug Schepman said no charges have been brought against the male worker yet, as investigations are ongoing into the incident.

The employee has been at the agency since 2002 and is thought to serve in a support role and not as a frontline screener.

"TSA takes the potential for insider threats at airports very seriously. At this moment, there is no reasonable cause to believe that the employee who was found with a handgun in his backpack prior to his shift had any ill intentions," the TSA said in a statement, addressed to local news station Denver7.

"The case is currently with local law enforcement and the employee has been suspended until the investigation is completed. TSA administers employee security checks at airports prior to accessing sterile areas."
