TTM 2006 + goes ahead as planned
The lack of a coup driven crisis in Thailand has been confirmed by the Fifth Annual Thailand Travel Mart 2006 + Amazing Gateway to the Mekong Region going ahead as normal in Bangkok this week.
TTM 2006 + will be particularly relevant to those of us that have flown in and out of the old Bangkok airport, being provided with the opportunity to witness the historic opening of Bangkok’s new international airport at Suvarnabhumi.
367 sellers are participating in this TTM 2006 + including hotels, ecotourism operators, adventure operators, entertainment companies, sports companies, medical and health tourism operators, NTOs, tour operators and the + element, 35 companies from the Greater Mekong Subregion.
They are all there to attract the attention of 149 invited buyers from 35 countries and provide them with all the information the buyer needs to transform interest into real business.
Mrs. Phornsiri Manoharn, Tourism Thailand’s Deputy Governor for the Domestic Market said, “TTM will allow buyers and sellers to get a good update of all the major products and services in the region and we expect business done at the show to go a long way towards meeting our targets of 13.8 million arrivals this year and 15 million in 2007.”
TTM 2006 + is organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in co-operation with Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT), the Federation of Thai Tourism Association (FETTA), Thai Airways International and the private sector and hosted buyers are carefully selected by TAT with cooperation from its overseas offices, Thai Airways and the private sector.
The official programme began yesterday with a welcome reception at a magnificent new Thai performance theatre Siam Niramit.
TTM appointments and business meetings will be held through 27 and 28 September, at the Challenger, Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre, the world’s largest column-free exhibition hall, Asia’s largest indoor exhibition centre and Thailand’s largest ballroom.
