Thomson and First Choice are hoping for a sunny outlook after expanding their sponsorship of TV weather programmes.

Thomson has renewed its deal with STV, while also agreeing to sponsor regional weather programmes on Tyne Tees and Yorkshire TV.

Sister operator First Choice is to sponsor Channel 5 weather.

Thomson claims its campaign with STV, launched in January 2014, saw brand awareness scores in Scotland climb from 68% to 74% in the first 10 months and online searches increase by 38% in a year.

Jeremy Ellis, digital and marketing director for Thomson and First Choice, said: "Weather is such an integral part of our holidays and we know that the majority of our customers check the forecast regularly before jetting off.

"The sponsorship of the weather is a natural brand fit for Thomson and First Choice and we are delighted to be extending the campaign to other regions in the UK next year."

First Choice is also renewing its partnership with VUE Cinemas and the ‘All inclusive Cinema ticket’ for families.
