TUI hit with lawsuit double whammy
TUI pilots are suing the travel company over changes it made to sick pay and pensions.
A small number of pilots claim TUI ‘concealed the true nature of the changes’ in the revised sick pay plan which was approved last year.
According to the lawsuit, pilots or union BALPA were not given all the relevant information on the changes during negotiations last year.
They also said the revision did away with the guaranteed 5% increase in salary, as well as changes to pensions
TUI disputes this, claiming a ‘lawful consultation’ was carried out.
The Sunday Times reported pilots on long-term sick leave said salaries were cut drastically, by almost half in certain cases.
TUI is also facing legal action from 15 holidaymakers who claimed they suffered gastric illness during stays at the Jaz Aquamarine Hotel in Egypt.
They complained of gastric symptoms at the resort in Hurghada between February and July 2022
“As this is now a legal matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time,” a TUI spokesperson said
