TUI lands in Jamaica
TUI staged its post- hurricane return to Jamaica this week.
The first TUI flight from London Gatwick with 345 passengers on board, touched down on Monday at Sangster International Airport.
It was the first international charter from the UK since the Category-5 hurricane.
A second flight has since landed and a third is scheduled at the weekend.
TUI is taking a measured approached to a full resumption.
“Everything is very fluid,” the company said.
“We’re looking at clean-up efforts, resort readiness and even hospital infrastructure. We need to see how this week goes before confirming next week’s flights.”
Many attractions have already reopened across Jamaica.
This includes Dunn’s River and Mystic Mountain.
“TUI’s decision to return with three flights this week alone is extremely encouraging. It shows the faith our tour operators continue to have in Jamaica,” said Fred Smith, CEO of Tropical Tours.
“TUI is one of our major partners. Their confidence comes from decades of solid relationships.”
