TUI Travel has announced that chairman of the remuneration committee Clare Chapman has stepped down from the Board with immediate effect.

Chapman, who was previously a non-executive director of First Choice and has been with TUI since the two operators merged in 2007, resigned following her appointment as group people director of BT Group.

She has been replaced as chairman of the remuneration committee by Bill Dalton.

TUI deputy chairman Sir Michael Hodgkinson said: "Clare has been a much valued member of the Board, both at First Choice and TUI Travel and the Board would like to thank her for the significant contribution she has made over the years.  We are sorry that she had decided to step down from the Board given her other commitments and wish her every success in her new role."
