TUI prepares for busiest day of the year
Thomson and First Choice say tomorrow (Saturday) will be their biggest single day of the year, with 25,000 customers departing overseas.
Over the last decade, the first Saturday in August has consistently been the busiest departure day for Thomson and First Choice and this year the operators will have 127 flights departing UK airports, carrying over 500 tonnes of hold luggage and 125 tonnes of hand luggage.
Saturday’s top-five most popular destinations are: Majorca, Alicante, Fuerteventura, Mexico and Paphos.
Mark Hall, director of product for Thomson and First Choice, said: "We are gearing up to take over 25,000 people on holiday this Saturday on our busiest day of the year so far.
"With the weather looking unpredictable this weekend, it couldn’t be a better time for Brits to head to the guaranteed sunshine and relax."
Meanwhile, a drop in temperatures in the UK should see an increase in last-minute bookings over the next few days, which will come as a relief to travel agents who told a TravelMole poll they had found it harder to sell holidays during the heatwave.
