TUI UK boss: Scots will fly from Newcastle if overseas travel delayed
Scots will head south into England to travel abroad for holidays if Scotland continues to ban international travel, TUI UK managing director, Andrew Flintham told the BBC. "It is quite possible that if Scotland has one rule, that customers will come down to Newcastle and fly out of Newcastle," he says.
International travel may be allowed in England from 17 May but Scotland may have to wait longer, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said earlier this week.
A UK two-tie system like this causes complications for the industry, Flintham said. "It alters where we operate too, as customers quite clearly move around when they can travel out of different places".
