Another jet has suffered a major turbulence incident in Indonesian airspace, injuring 17 passengers.

A Hong Kong Airlines flight was hit by turbulence after taking off from Bali

It was forced to turn back with 12 people admitted to hospital with mostly minor injuries.

Flight CRK 6704 was carrying 204 passengers and 12 crew.

"Seventeen people were injured, 12 must be admitted to a hospital for further treatment while five others were treated in the airport clinic and have been released," Trikora Harjo, general manager of Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, told the AFP.

The  Airbus A330-200 was not damaged but has been grounded while a full inspection is carried.

It is the same aircraft model as that of flight EY474 which suffered severe turbulence last week en route to Jakarta.

On that flight 31 people were injured and cabin storage areas on the plane were slightly damaged.
