Turndown service for your mutt
There are various ways to interpret this but it may simply a sign that over-the-top luxury is making a comeback with hotel turndown service for dogs coming at the same time Disney announced it was offering luxury touches for (what else?) dogs and other pets.
The ritzy Jumeriah Essex House in New York City brought in a “doggie designer” to create a “memorable experience” for dogs that include luxury bedding.
“The program lets your dog sleep on a designer dog bed or mini, pop-up tent from Wagwear New York City boutique; chew on dog treats made by the hotel’s executive pastry chef, and dine from Wagwear bowls laid on a matching placemat,” says the hotel.
The hotel also sells fashionable collars and leashes and the hotel’s concierges will help VIP dogs to find the hottest new park trails. And gift bags? Yes. Monogrammed, of course.
Pets are also celebrated at the Walt Disney World Resort, where there’s a new 50,000 square foot indoor and outdoor area for dogs to run and play. Cats are also invited.
The facility offers suites that include television, raised bedding and private outdoor areas.
Feline guests will spend their visit in the separate "Kitty City" pavilion — away from the dogs — in two and four-room condos.
“All suites and condos are designed to provide comfort and privacy and will be cleaned daily with hospital-grade disinfectants,” Disney says.
Features also include a grooming salon, ala human spa, and a special boarding area for so-called “pocket pets” that include hamsters and guinea pigs.
