TV anchorman suing Carnival for lost pride
A TV anchorman in Puerto Rico is suing Carnival Cruise Lines for US$40 million. He claims the company used his image in promotional materials without his consent.
Pedro Rosa Nales, a longtime anchor for WAPA-TV, says in the lawsuit that Carnival and its parent company have taken advantage of his "iconic" image in flyers and displays on ships stopped in Puerto Rico and distributed elsewhere, according to the AP.
Carnival Corp. spokesman Tim Gallagher said he had not seen the suit and the Miami-based company could not comment.
"Plaintiff Pedro Rosa Nales is constantly suffering," according to the suit filed in federal court in San Juan. "He has lost his pride as he feels his right to his own image has been abused. He feels depressed, used and abused by co-defendants."
