Twitter hotel, big cheeses and burglars
What’s your idea of the perfect holiday? No phone? No emails? No Twitter or Facebook? Well, this one might NOT be for you. It’s the world’s first Twitter experience hotel in Spain – offering guests a social media paradise and the opportunity to mingle with other Twitter enthusiasts.
So, what do you get if you book – Twitter themed rooms and drinks and a #socialwave that gets guests interacting with each other on social media. Visitors to the hotel contact each other via a special Twitter application, only available via the resort WIFI.
Once checked in, guests can share photos, send messages, see who’s online and find out where they are in the hotel. Other hashtags are used to keep the holiday going, including the #TwitterPoolParty and the ability to request a stock up your mini bar using #FillMyFridge. If this sounds like your idea of the perfect getaway, why not check them out on Twitter.
We all love to keep our friends updated with our holiday news and we love to do it via Facebook, but holiday sharing enthusiasts beware! Status updates informing friends about your latest travel plans not only make your nearest and dearest green with envy, but also act as a neon sign to burglars, telling them no one is home. Facebook is great, but perhaps wait until after your holiday to update your friends.
The big cheeses of this world clearly don’t share our enthusiasm for social media. A report released this week by Domo and CEO.com showed that almost 70 per cent of Fortune 500 CEOs have no presence on social media channels such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Somewhat predictably however, those who have grasped the digital world seem to favour LinkedIn over anything else.
And finally, we thought we’d end this week’s round up with a stunning time lapse of San Francisco – another fantastic example of the use of images/video to create an engaging piece of online content.
