Two Britons die in Cypriot resort

Post mortems have been carried out on two British holidaymakers who died in the Cypriot resort of Paphos.

The 63-year-old man and the 66-year-old woman died on Tuesday. Post-mortem examinations found they both died from heart attacks.

Reports say the woman had gone into the water after her husband had got caught in rough seas. When she got into difficulties, another man had rushed in to help her. 
 
Accoding to local police, the man managed to drag the woman to shore but lost consciousness after administering first aid.

The tragedy happened in the Yeroskipou area of the tourist resort in the south-west of Cyprus, near to the Athena Beach Hotel.

The Foreign Office confirmed the deaths and said it was providing consular assistance.
