Two Brits die in the French Alps
Two British skiers have been killed on holiday in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc region.
It is believed the 25-year-old men slipped before falling several hundred metres while skiing on a well-known off-piste route in the popular area the French Alps.
A third skier, also British, raised the alarm on Sunday morning.
According to reports, mountain rescue teams arrived within 10 minutes but the two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
A local police spokesman said the skiers had taken a route popular with skiers but the conditions were ‘very unfavourable’ and snow was ‘very compacted and very icy’.
The Foreign Office is providing support to the families of the victims.
