Two dead after a plane crashes into fire truck
Two airport firefighters died after their fire truck crashed into a Latam Airlines jet on a runway.
Latam’s CEO said the flight had been cleared for take-off at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima.
However, there is confusion over why the fire service was permitted to conduct a routine emergency drill at the time.
Video footage showed the plane speeding down the runway on fire but no passengers or crew were killed.
Twenty passengers were injured with two in a serious condition.
Flights were suspended until the following day at the airport.
