Two dead as gas explosion rocks Playa del Carmen restaurant
Two people died at a restaurant on Mexico’s Caribbean coast after a gas explosion. There were injuries to18 people at the Kool Beach restaurant. All but three were restaurant employees. The restaurant is located in a popular tourist zone of Playa del Carmen.
State police chief Lucio Hernández said a ruptured gas tank in the kitchen of the restaurant was the likely cause of the explosion.
Quintana Roo officials said eight of the injured have now been discharged from hospital.
