Two new hotel flagships beckon in Manhattan
There’s always a new hotel opening in New York it seems, but this fall will bring two new, perhaps even historic, flagship properties to the edges of Central Park.
The city tomorrow will welcome the Viceroy New York, a new build on West 57th Street.
Viceroy’s New York flagship promises "a new expression of individuality coupled with a new interpretation of modernity in a luxury locale," from the design team of Roman and Williams.
Rates for the 240 luxury guestrooms will start at $479 for opening night, $459 for the weekend; a special fall deal offers a third night free for those booking two nights in a Park Deluxe Room, Junior Suite, or Park Suite.
The Viceroy features classic suites, meeting space, a signature restaurant and a rooftop lounge and bar overlooking the city skyline and the park, an indoor plunge pool, a gym and spa.
"The New York market has been waiting for the Viceroy name for some time, and we have wanted to be there," says Viceroy Hotel Group CEO Bill Walshe. "Our first Viceroy branded hotel in the city has to be exceptional, and this development is quite simply perfect."
Meanwhile, the Loews Regency Hotel in New York this week began accepting reservations for stays beginning on January 16, 2014.
The reopening of the Loews flagship property follows a comprehensive $100 million renovation, including a new restaurant and a state-of-the-art salon and spa, re-imagined luxury guestrooms, 58 suites and four new private meeting spaces.
The hotel that introduced the "New York Power Breakfast" will bring that meal back, in a restaurant managed by Gherardo Guarducci and Dimitri Pauli of the Sant Ambroeus Hospitality Group, under Executive Chef Dan Silverman.
Acclaimed celebrity hairstylist Julien Farel will debut a 10,000-square-foot beauty flagship complete with salon, spa and fitness, with 30 custom-designed stations and private rooms for VIP clients, and the Julien Farel Anti-Aging Spa will feature derm-focused, anti-aging science with traditional French techniques. There will also be a JF Men.
A little further afield, the Hyatt Regency Princeton has completed a $19 million renovation, and is welcoming group business in particular.
Its "You Make the Call this Fall" promotion will highlight its two new floors of flexible meeting space, totaling 32,000 sq. ft. of space, including a brand new 4,300 sq. ft. Junior Ballroom; state-of-the-art business center; and 30 meeting rooms, including a dedicated wing on the hotel’s main level.
Groups that book by December 31, 2013, for an event held by March 31, 2014, will get to choose among a one-hour complimentary welcome reception; double Hyatt Gold Passport meeting planner points; a complimentary all-day beverage break; a 2% master rebate (on rooms only); or a $500 charitable donation (donated in the group’s name to the charity they specify).
