Two new routes by Monarch from Luton

Saturday, 05 Jul, 2006 0

Monarch is to expand its scheduled services from Luton next summer with two new routes.

The airline is to run flights to Ibiza five times a week and Almeria four times a week as well as increasing frequency to Palma from one to nine flights a week and Faro from five flights a week to a daily service. Ibiza fares start at £39.99 one-way and Almeria, £44.99.

A new Airbus A320 will be added to the Luton-based fleet in a £30 million investment creating 50 new jobs in addition to the 1,100 already employed by the Monarch Group at the airport.

Monarch scheduled services managing director Tim Jeans said: “Luton has been Monarch’s home base for almost 40 years and our expansion here is good news as it provides people with a real choice of airline and our trademark service – which our passengers love.

“They’re fed up with the cattle-truck conditions and catering from the British Rail era, found on many ‘no frills’ airlines. They want to be treated like paying customers and that’s what Monarch delivers on every flight”.

The airline’s other scheduled services from Luton next summer include Alicante, Gibraltar, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Malaga, Menorca and Tenerife.
