Two US-Paris flights diverted following mid-air bomb threat
Authorities are investigating who was behind anonymous bomb threats that forced two Air France flights out of the US to be diverted mid-air.
Flight 65 from Los Angeles and Flight 55 from Washington were ‘subject to anonymous threats received after their respective takeoff’, the airline said.
"As a precautionary measure and to conduct all necessary security checks, Air France decided to request the landings of both aircraft," a statement by Air France added.
Flight 55 from Dulles International Airport with 262 people on board was diverted to Halifax, Nova Scotia and landed at around 10:15 pm last night.
Flight 65 and its 497 passengers and crew landed at Salt Lake City, Utah.
Authorities have found no credible threat and have given the flights the all-clear. After the incident, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s Nova Scotia division tweeted: "No explosive device found."
Flight 65 has continued to Paris, while passengers grounded in Halifax will fly out tonight, arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport on Thursday morning.
