UK businesses urged to stage conferences on home turf
A campaign has been developed to encourage more British businesses to host their meetings, conferences and events in their own country.
England’s top business destinations feature in a 32-page Meet the Cities guide and microsite www.meetengland.com/meetthecities produced by VisitBritain’s Meet England team.
They profile new and innovative ideas for organising conferences, meetings and incentives.
Destinations featured include Bournemouth, Brighton, Chester, Doncaster, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, NewcastleGateshead, Norwich and Sheffield.
Meeting planners using the site can select a city, discover its meeting facilities and contact details by using a dedicated Google map facility which allows visitors to view venues, train stations and featured restaurants. The site also offers a free brochure download facility.
The campaign, which has been developed with the help of industry insiders in each of the destinations, provides itinerary suggestions for those looking to develop delegate social programmes and highlights the best places to relax and ‘network’ after-hours.
It gives details of quality assessed accommodation for those who want to mix business with pleasure and discover the destination on a leisure break.
Meet England manager Sarah Woodford said: “Business visits and events are a vital part of England’s £70 billion visitor economy.
“The capital continues to rival Vienna, Frankfurt and New York as the best place to do business and we want to remind Britain’s business community to think of London as well as other leading English cities first when they are planning their meetings, conferences and incentive trips.”
