UK car rental site sets sights on European expansion

Car rental comparison site EnjoyTravel.com has acquired Latvia-based car broker Doorental.com for an undisclosed sum as it looks to further expand into European markets.

Doorental, which began trading in March 2019, has a largely European customer base with a strong presence in Sweden, Italy and France.

EnjoyTravel Managing Director Steve Dennis said: "The timings are perfect as Enjoy is now launching content in three new languages – Swedish, Danish and Russian, taking us to 10 languages for 2021.

"Doorental.com’s Italian and Swedish business in particular will be an excellent addition to Enjoy’s European expansion as people return to travel later in the year."

EnjoyTravel.com predicted more holidaymakers will book self-drive breaks once travel resumes as they look to avoid public transport.

The acquisition of Doorental is the second deal for EnjoyTravel in just six weeks following the December acquisition of US-focused travel website Big 7 Travel.
