UK consumers doubt airline sustainability claims

Friday, 10 Jan, 2023 0

Over a third of Brits are sceptical of airline sustainability claims.

Just 23% of consumers take environmental claims from businesses at face value, according to a new study by Sensu Insight.

The 50 Shades of Greenwashing found almost a third (30%) expect environmental claims to be slightly exaggerated.

About 14% don’t believe them at all.

Just one in 10 respondents (10%) said they believe that businesses have the best interests of the planet at heart.

Steve Leigh, MD at Sensu Insight, said: “We are increasingly living in a cynical age where ‘fake news’ make us more likely to question everything.

“For airlines, the lawsuit filed against KLM was the highest profile example undermining trust in the sector.”
