UK, Europe bans Iran flights

The UK and other western nations are banning Iran flights.

It comes as The UK and the US, France and Germany imposed new sanctions on Iran for supplying missiles to Russia.

The fresh sanction measures mean a halt on Iran Air flights to the UK and Europe.

The UK says it started terminating ‘all direct air services between the UK and Iran’ as part of the expanded sanctions.

It has moved to ‘cancel its bilateral air services arrangements with Iran.

This would ’restrict Iran Air’s ability to fly in to the UK.’

UK Foreign Secretary Lammy said Iran’s move to supply the missiles was ‘a significant and dangerous escalation.’

Iran Air flies to London from Tehran three times a week.

The Iran flight ban is part of wider sanctions on Iranian officials involved with the missiles as well as on five Russian cargo ships involved in transporting military supplies.
