UK Foreign Office eases Ecuador travel warning

The UK Foreign Office announced that Ecuador is no longer on the yellow list, with the country moved back to the green list

It had warned against non- essential travel to Ecuador since June due to civil unrest, although it didn’t impact travel to the Galapagos Islands

The Minister of Tourism of Ecuador Niels Olsen said, “We are delighted to be back on the UK foreign Office’s green list, and I express my special gratitude to the Ambassador of Great Britain in Ecuador Chris Campbell and our Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Holguin for their efforts to achieve this through diplomatic dialogue.”

The UK is the top European source market for Ecuador.

Ecuador was present at the LATA Expo last month in London.

During this travel show, Ecuador had a delegation of more than 18 private companies from the tourism industry, accompanied by Minister Olsen.

The FCDO still advises against all but essential travel to most areas within 20km of the Ecuadorean border with Colombia
