Ukraine sees growth in lead up to 2012 UEFA championship
Tourist numbers to Ukraine are up, and the trend for 2008 is showing healthy growth according to the first quarter figures released by Panorama Tours, specialist in travel to Ukraine.
According to the report there is a four fold increase in tourists using the services of the company compared to the same period in 2007. Sales & Marketing Manager of Panorama Tours, Adrian Jarockyj, attributes this increase to the changing perception of travelers when thinking of Ukraine, and also the continual upgrading of tourist facilities in major cities and resort areas such as Kyiv, the Carpathian mountain’s and the Crimean Peninsula.
“We have seen how after the first international hotel opened its doors in Kyiv, not only have the number of quality hotel beds in the city increased regularly, but the standard of accommodation is improving immensely.
“The Radisson SAS was the first to break ground in Ukraine, but the Hyatt has recently welcomed its first guests, the Intercontinental is due to open in a few months, and now all new hotels in the city have such a high benchmark that the days of Soviet era lodgings throughout Ukraine will soon be completely relegated to the past. We have also found that our clients prefer high standard, smaller boutique hotels and they are choosing properties like the new 5* Opera Hotel when booking their trips to Kyiv.â€
Having recently been named as the joint host for the 2012 UEFA European Football championship, things have never looked brighter for the burgeoning tourist trade in this East European nation of 47 million. The new government in Kyiv has also promised to invest billions into rebuilding vital infrastructure in order to cope with the millions expected for the 2012 sporting event – the largest event ever staged in Ukraine.
City Breaks to Kyiv operated by Panorama tours depart from fourteen European cities by scheduled flights operated by Ukraine International Airlines fleet of modern Boeing 737 aircraft. Additional holiday options include extensions to Odesa and Lviv, day trips to Chornobyl, along with tailor made programs for individuals and groups to the Crimea, Carpathian Mountains and throughout Ukraine. The portfolio of tourist products offered by Panorama Tours has been designed to cater for all budgets, ranging from youth hostel style accommodation, fly-drive packages, 3 to 5 star hotels in major cities, apartment stays, inclusive cruises and specialist religious tours.
