ULCC Swoop announces first US routes
Canadian ULCC startup Swoop has revealed its first wave of transborder routes serving the US.
It will start flying to five US cities in the fall on a total of seven routes.
The maiden US flight kicks off on October 11 between Edmonton and Las Vegas.
During the remainder of October it will launch flights to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tamps in Florida, as well as Phoenix/Mesa, Arizona.
"Swoop’s success in the Canadian ULCC space combined with the evident success of ULCCs in the U.S. affirms that North American travelers are ready for an airline to open up the border to ultra-low-cost air travel," said Swoop president Steven Greenway.
The carrier which is wholly owned by WestJet, only officially started operations two months ago, and serves Abbotsford, Edmonton, Halifax, Nova Scotia; Hamilton, Ontario; and Winnipeg.
