United Airlines beta testing new website design
United Airlines is currently testing a new website redesign, aimed at offering travelers more flexibility in travel planning and booking and allow the airline to sell more added services.
However the redesigned United.com will unlikely to be rolled out publicly until the summer, it said.
For the time being, it will be beta tested by about 4,000 users, made up of elite loyalty members, regular customers, corporate travel agents and members of staff.
The carrier doesn’t want to commit to a specific launch date for now.
"We’re going to take the time to make sure it’s the best possible site, you don’t want to commit to a date; you want to commit to a quality product," said United spokeswoman Jennifer Dohm.
The site will feature enhanced search filters will allow customers to search for flights with Wi-Fi or in-seat power outlets, for example.
It will also offer the option to bypass a connecting airport prone to bad weather delays or choose a specific codeshare partner airline where a choice is available.
After analyzing feedback from the closed beta testing, it will be launched in open beta for the general public to use.
Users will have full functionality to book flights and manage frequent flyer accounts, Dohm said.
