United Airlines’ chief commercial officer Julia Haywood has stepped down just a few months into the job.

Haywood joined United from Boston Consulting Group in August and has now returned to the consulting firm.

At United she was responsible for sales, revenue management and network planning.

She was head of the airline transformation division and worked with several airlines at BCG, including United.

Haywood ‘decided to return’ to BCG now that ‘United’s strategy is firmly in place.’ President Scott Kirby said.

"Julia knew our business well and did an exceptional job getting the commercial team positioned for success."
