United Airlines issues travel waivers for San Francisco runway closure
United Airlines has issued a travel waiver ahead of expected disruption at San Francisco Airport throughout September.
SFO undergoes repair work from September 7 – 26 resulting in a runway closure.
To ease congestion United has pre-emptively suspended some flights and rebooked customers on alternative services.
It is also offering a waiver for customers who wish to make voluntary changes to their travel plans.
"If customers’ plans are flexible, we recommend changing their flight or allowing more time to get to/from their destination," United said in a release.
All travelers are advised to check their flight status on the United app or united.com before heading to the airport.
Those that will be potentially impacted will receive emails and text alerts.
Additionally the airport’s AirTrain service will be periodically closed at night during construction and customers should allow extra time to get between terminals.
The travel waiver allows customers to change their travel to another same day departure, one day earlier or one day later than their scheduled departure between the same cities and in the same class of service.
