United Airlines marks 30 years of Chicago flights from Heathrow
United Airlines has celebrated a special milestone: 30 years of nonstop service between London Heathrow and its hometown hub at Chicago O’Hare.
Since the first flight on 1 September 1995, United has carried more than 9.1 million passengers and over 485,000 tonnes of cargo on more than 56,000 flights between the cities.
The route is currently operated three times daily year-round with United’s Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring 167 seats, including an extended United Polaris business class cabin.
This year, United is offering more flights and business class seats between London and Chicago than any other airline.
Overall, United offers up to 20 daily flights from London with year-round daily service between London Heathrow, Terminal 2 and its hubs at Chicago O’Hare, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco and Washington/Dulles,
These flights open up the option to connect onwards to more than 300 destinations across the Americas.

“This route not only provides direct access to the United States’ third-largest city, but also seamless connections via our hometown hub at Chicago O’Hare to over 140 destinations.”

United also offers service from Edinburgh to New York/Newark year-round, to Washington/Dulles nearly year-round and seasonal service to Chicago.
