United Airlines MileagePlus award miles now last forever
United Airlines has removed the expiry date of all MileagePlus award miles.
With immediate effect all miles will no longer expire, allowing members a lifetime to redeem for flights, hotels and other partner services.
"We want to demonstrate to our members that we are committing to them for the long-haul and giving customers a lifetime to use miles is a meaningful benefit," said Luc Bondar, vice president of loyalty and president of MileagePlus at United.
Bondar says 2018 was a record year for redemptions with more members using miles to book award trips than ever before.
"We expect with today’s announcement that even more will use miles to travel the world in the years to come."
United says it offers award travel to more destinations than any other US airline.
That numbers more than 1,300 destinations through United and Star Alliance partners, which can all be booked through the United app.
It also touts the lowest priced economy award availability of any global US airline.
