United Airlines signs codeshare pact with India’s Vistara
United Airlines has inked a new codeshare alliance with Indian carrier Vistara, adding 20 new cities to its global network.
The codeshare agreement takes effect later this year as United gears up to launch a new seasonal service from San Francisco to New Delhi.
Beginning December 5, 2019 the new flight will connect United’s customers from more than 80 US cities to India via SFO.
United also serves Mumbai and New Delhi year-round..
"United Airlines has served India from our New York/Newark hub for more than 14 years and in December of this year will begin operating new nonstop service between San Francisco and New Delhi," said John Gebo, United’s senior vice president of alliances.
New Delhi-based Vistara is effectively the only major full service private airline operating in India after the recent demise of Jet Airways.
It is a joint venture between Singapore Airlines and Indian conglomerate Tata.
"We’re very happy to take our partnership with United Airlines to the next level with this codeshare agreement. It helps us offer an extended global network to our customers and gives us the chance of welcoming travelers from across the world," said Sanjiv Kapoor, Vistara’s chief strategy and commercial officer.
