United, American extend 737 Max flight cancellations again
United Airlines expects to cancel another 5,000 flights due to the ongoing Boeing 737 Max crisis.
It yet again extended cancelations, this time until November 3.
It had previously removed its 14 Max planes from schedules until August 3.
The grounding is resulting in about 40 flight cancelations every day.
"We are continuing to work through the schedule to try and swap and upgauge aircraft to mitigate the disruption caused by the grounding of the Mac," a United statement said.
"We continue to automatically book affected customers on alternate flights. If we are unable to place them on a different flight, we will proactively reach out to try and offer other options."
American Airlines also announced it will also extend cancelations until early November.
Extending cancelations until November is another sign there is still some way to go before the beleaguered Max takes flight again.
The MCAS system on the Max has been blamed in part for the deaths of 346 people in two separate crashes, which prompted the global grounding of all Max jets.
