United ‘disturbed’ over cockpit breach
United Airlines says it is ‘deeply disturbed’ over an aircraft cockpit security breach now under investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and United are probing an incident after a was video posted online.
Colorado Rockies hitting coach Hensley Meulens is seen in the cockpit.
The MLB team had chartered the flight to Toronto.
“We’re deeply disturbed by what we see in that video, which appears to show an unauthorized person in the flight deck at cruise altitude while the autopilot was engaged,” United Airlines said.
The two pilots have been grounded while an investigation is completed.
Meulens’ now deleted Instagram post had the caption: “Had some fun in the aircraft cockpit on our flight from Denver to Toronto. Thanks to the captain and the first officer.”
The video showed a second person enter the cockpit.
Meulens has now apologized
