United-JetBlue partnership gets US DOT approval
The US Department of Transportation has given the green light to the proposed United Airlines and JetBlue Airways partnership.
Known as ‘Blue Sky,’ the alliance enables customers of both to earn frequent flyer miles and status credits across both airlines.
“Blue Sky is a new and unique collaboration designed to give customers of both airlines even more options to find flights that fit their plans as well as new opportunities to earn and use points,” JetBlue said.
The different benefits of the partnership will roll out in phases.
As well as the ability to earn and spend miles in either loyalty program, United and JetBlue will market each other’s flights on their websites and sales channels.
JetBlue will give United landing slots for up to seven daily flights at New York’s JFK starting in 2027.
United and JetBlue will also swap eight flight timings at Newark Liberty International Airport, United’s main hub.
