United passenger flown to San Fran instead of Paris
United Airline has apologized after a passenger was mistakenly flown from Newark to San Francisco instead of to Paris.
The French-speaking passenger was not informed of a last-minute gate change at the New York airport and boarded the wrong flight.
Once on board, she found someone else sitting in her seat and alerted crew.
They failed to notice she was on the wrong flight, despite her showing her boarding pass, and directed her to another seat in the aircraft.
The incident, which happened on April 24, meant the passenger was travelling for more than 28 hours, according to ABC7 News.
United has since issued a refunded and sent her a voucher for another flight to Paris.
The passenger’s niece, who spoke to the media, said the incident highlighted security lapses.
United said the airline was working with its team in Newark to ensure the incident isn’t repeated.
It is the latest controversy to hit United Airlines, which was widely criticized last month for its handling of passenger David Dao on an overbooked flight.
He was injured while being dragged off the flight to make room for cabin crew. The incident was filmed by fellow passengers and went viral.
Later in April, United hit the headlines again after a giant rabbit died on one of its flights.
