Unleash the “Tiger” at Sentidos en Rio’s New Golf Academy
December 2007 – Sentidos en Rio Real, Marbella’s five-star boutique hotel now offers guests of all abilities the chance to discover their inner “Tiger” with the official opening of its ground-breaking new Golf Academy.
Complete novices and seasoned pros alike can now get to grips with their game with the latest cutting-edge analysis technology and practice facilities, before putting their newly sharpened skills to the test on the hotel’s beautiful par 72, Javier Arena-designed golf course – already one of Spain’s finest golf experiences.
Marbella’s only member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Sentidos en Rio Real recaptures the timeless style of the resort’s glamorous heyday with a contemporary twist. Already one of Spain’s finest golf experiences, it now has a state-of-the-art, all-weather practice range – complete with practice green, two bunkers, and a dedicated 1,000m2 short game area – and analytic technology incorporating 3D biomechanical swing analysis and the V1 professional video system, with plasma screens displaying up to 50 reference points to allow detailed examination and adjustment of everything from weight distribution and knee angles to shoulder rotation and arm speed.
A team of three professional instructors, managed by former PGA European Tour player Alfonso Piñero, are on hand to offer a wide range of courses for experienced players and beginners alike, as well as specialised courses for junior and disabled players. Individual lessons and corporate clinics can also be booked, while courses addressing particular aspects of the game, with particular diagnostic focus on ball flight and swing dimensions, are also available.
After a session tightening up their technique or polishing their putting, guests can even enjoy a range of treatments specifically focused on the needs of golfers at Sentidos en Rio Real’s sublime new spa, Petite Serenite, such as the Mint and Camomile Massage.
Nestled in a serene valley between the Sierra Blanca and the Mediterranean Sea, just three kilometres from the bustling centre of Marbella, Sentidos en Rio features 29 deluxe rooms and suites, all with spacious private balconies, blending modern decor with traditional influences courtesy of renowned interior designer Pascua Ortega.
The hotel’s Sentidos Restaurant serves local dishes such as black pasta with fresh red prawns complimented by wines from the hotel’s wine cellar. Other facilities include floodlit tennis and padel tennis courts and Rio Real III, a luxury Ferreti 730 motor yacht moored in the Puerto Banús marina, and available for guests to charter.
