UNWTO and Green Globe Unveil EU Hotel Energy Initiative

20% Energy efficiency savings forecast and 10% use of renewable energy
As a UNWTO Affiliate Member, Green Globe has joined with the UN World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) to invite EU hotels to join the UNWTO EU Energy Initiative.
Registrations are now open for accommodation providers to join Hotel Energy Solutions, an initiative designed to boost the competitiveness of the European Union tourism sector by increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable technologies.
Green Globe says that through implementing simple operational changes, the accommodation sector has the potential to increase energy efficiency by at least 20% and the use of renewable energy by 10%.
Hotel Energy Solutions is an initiative designed to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of the accommodation sector in the European Union. It will deliver training, information and technical support to guide accommodation businesses across the European Union on how they can easily cut their operational costs by implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions.
Hotel Energy Solutions will provide a set of user-friendly energy efficiency etools to show how businesses can achieve this. The Energy etoolkit will cater for varying types of accommodation located within different climates across the EU, including hotels, resorts, motels and hostels.
All EU accommodation providers are invited to register now in English, Spanish, French, German or Greek at www.hotelenergysolutions.net
By joining organisations will receive:
- Access to the Energy etoolkit as it is developed, which will include best practice solutions that specifically cater for your business’ needs
- Invitations to conferences, training and events on effective energy management
- Networking opportunities with the world’s leading agencies
