Update: All Eurostar and Le Shuttle services suspended
Eurotunnel has been forced to suspend both its Eurostar passenger trains and Le Shuttle car-carrying services due to an incident in the Channel Tunnel.
Eurostar has cancelled all trains for the rest of the day. It expects to operate a normal service tomorrow.
Eurotunnel said the halt to its services had been caused by a breach of its terminal boundaries. The BBCreported a fire on the tracks.
Striking MyFerryLink workers have also forced the closure of the Port of Calais, causing the cancellation of all ferry crossings between Dover and Calais.
Today’s disruption comes less than a week after an earlier blockade at Calais by MFL workers caused chaos for passengers trying to cross the Channel.
