Update: Malaysia Airlines’ passengers need to watch their weight

Thursday, 24 Jul, 2018 0

Malaysia Airlines is reducing its baggage allowance on domestic flights from 30kg to 20kg, which is 10kg less than its international luggage allowance.

Passengers flying from the UK to Malaysia who intend to also take domestic flights will have to make sure they limit their check-in baggage to no more than 20kg, unless they have been issued with a single ticket for the entire journey or the connecting time between their international and domestic flights is less than 24 hours.

If a single ticket is issued for both the international and domestic flight, or if the transfer between domestic and international flights is within 24 hours, the 30kg limit will still apply to both sectors.

International passengers will be limited to 20kg on the domestic sector if the connecting time between their international and domestic flights is more than 24 hours and they have been issued with separate tickets.

The change applies to all passengers booking economy flights from August 1.

MAS said it had cut its free baggage allowance on domestic flights to be more competitive in its domestic market following an increase in fuel prices.

Passengers are also allowed 7kgs of hand luggage in economy class.

Other services such as in-flight entertainment and meals remain unchanged.
