Upgrade bidding tool coming to Amadeus

Saturday, 10 May, 2016 0
Amadeus has agreed a partnership with tech firm Plusgrade to allow passengers to bid for seat upgrades.

The service will be available for all airlines signed up with Amadeus.

"Plusgrade’s mission is to help airlines generate as much revenue as possible from every flight," said its CEO Ken Harris.

"Our partnership with Amadeus further strengthens Plusgrade’s ability to innovate, lead and build upon the meaningful revenue streams and enhanced customer experiences for which our signature up-sell solutions are known," he said.

Once a ticket has been booked and purchased, passengers have the option to place a bid online for an upgrade.

Passengers will be notified of a successful bid between 24-72 hours before flight departure.

"We have been focusing on developing partnerships in order to deliver additional innovative solutions fast. Through this partnership, Altea customers will be able to implement this solution much quicker than before," said Julia Sattel, Amadeus senior vice president of Airline IT.

"Airlines will be able to boost that all-important bottom line, while travelers will gain greatly from the increased choice and flexibility when deciding how they want their flight experience to be."
