US Airways, American mega-merger might come in one week
Multiple news sources are reporting that the much-discussed mega-merger between American Airlines and US Airways could come as soon as next week.
The Wall Street Journal cites "unnamed sources" as saying that negotiations are currently fluid and could still fall apart.
Most industry analysts now say the airline, which could drive consumer costs up, will be called "American" and will be helmed by US Airways CEO Doug Parker. The Dallas Morning News reports that its sources say Parker would take on the CEO driver’s seat of the new airline while American Airlines CEO Tom Horton would probably step into the role of non-executive chairman for the new airline.
