US lifts carry-on laptop ban on Qatar flights
Qatar Airways has become the fourth airline to have a US-imposed ban on personal electronic devices in carry-on bags lifted.
The airline and its hub airport Doha said they had strengthened their security to allow passengers to carry laptops and other electronics onboard.
The ban was imposed in March on direct flights to the US from eight mainly Muslim countries following fears that bombs could be concealed in the devices.
Etihad, Emirates and Turkish Airlines had the ban lifted earlier this week after also working with the US authorities to increase security.
On Thursday, Qatar said all personal electronic devices can be carried on board all departures from Hamad International Airport to destinations in the United States’.
Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait still have a ban on laptops and electronics in hand luggage.
