US small meeting market getting larger

Sunday, 29 Jun, 2006 0

The US’s small meetings market is getting more attention these days, with a recent example the Platinum Hotel and Spa opening at the end of this month in Las Vegas.

Up to half of the hotel occupants are expected to be small meeting groups.

The hotel is small by local standards, only 225 rooms, and it is unusual in that it does not have a casino. It is also far from the Las Vegas strip. And while Vegas is known for big meetings, the hotel’s backers envision an unmet niche in small groups  —  a marketing plan getting more popular in other areas as well.

The Platinum is managed by Marcus Hotels and Resorts, a division of Marcus Corp. The property is a member of the Preferred Hotels and Resorts.
