USTOA promotes travel agents
The United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) this summer did 700 radio segments of radio time reaching 17 million listeners to urge consumers to avoid vacation scams in part by turning to travel agents.
USTOA President Bob Whitley did ten live news and talk interviews on local radio stations.
“It’s only natural that we could encourage the public to use a travel agent,” said Mr Whitley, pointing out that all USTOA members must offer programs fully commissionable to travel agents.
Mr Whitley said this year’s hot destinations included Alaska, California and Colorado domestically, as well as Italy and France for international travelers.
Other topics included how consumers benefit through the bulk buying power of tour operators and how they can save up to 30% over booking the same arrangements on their own.
